Introduction

Welcome to the wiki for Mr. Moody's 11th grade AP® English Literature and Composition class. This class is authorized and recognized by College Board of meeting or exceeding the expectations colleges and universities have for an AP subject.

According to the online encyclopedia Wikipedia, a wiki (pronounced wee-kee or wick-ey), "is a type of website that allows users easily to add, remove, or otherwise edit and change most available content." This ability to allow users to interact online makes a wiki a great tool for "conversation" or collaborative writing.

Students in my classes should visit this wiki regularly to check for updates and to access their own and others' blogs and wikis. You can access course pages by clicking on the appropriate button in the sidebar located on the right side of this page. If you're having trouble locating the sidebar, make sure that you click the "Sidebar" tab in the upper right corner of each page in order to view it.

I'm very open to any suggestions as to how this wiki might be utilized in my classes. Minimally, this is for my students to have access to class materials and to practice writing skills via the Internet.  I also hope that this will become a space for students to participate in a discussion about anything that is relevant to the class.

At this early point, you will find course syllabi, contact information, homework assignments, and other information and materials. Most of the course documents are in .pdf format, so you will need a program that reads .pdf. (See the sidebar for downloading a free .pdf reader and other programs that you may need to utilize this space.)

Some important links for what we're currently doing in AP Lit and Comp are:

  • Check out the summer reading project here here.
  • The booklist for the summer reading project is here.
  • The general course outline (the syllabus) is here.
  • The week-by-week course schedule is here.

Have a great day!

Mr. Moody
